Fed up with Gas Prices!

I hate gas prices these days they are driving me crazy. I have thought long and hard about how to make life better with the economy the way it is today. A couple months ago I was looking into buy a scooter, the thought left my head and just recently has come back. Yesterday I went and test drove one and it was easier than I thought. I really want to get a scooter now, but I don't know if it's going to be worth it. Here are the pro and con's:
Pros: Cons:
* cheaper gas * I might die
* fun to drive * longer to get to work
* I would look cute * have to take back roads to work

Those are the Major ones I have thought of. I thought since most of you like to give me advice on everything else I do I was wondering what your input would be on me buying a scooter. Also if I do get a scooter should I spend the 3,000 to get the "Honda" brand or should I spend around 1,500 for a "Kia" brand (that's how my Dad explained it to me). I would like to get feed back from everyone about this topic so it can help me make up my mind. Thank you so much! Have a wonderful day.

Kelli i think that a scooter would be fun! If i didn't have the kids to worry about! I couldn't strap 2 car seats on to one of those. If you do end up getting one, go for the "kia" brand! They are cheaper! Have fun making your choice! YOUR ROCK

Uh--what about when it rains or snows. What about getting to work all sweaty and windblown. While we were in college (go Duke) David rode a bike to school because we only had one car. It was not a pleasant experience. However--if you get a scooter--please get the safest one, the better to avoid road rash when you fall down and go boom.
Of course this advice comes from an old fuddy duddy--so take it in that spirit.

Kelli is H-O-T!! This is Jeremy by the way, just so people don't think Kelli was saying that about herself, although I wouldn't blame her if she did.

I think that Trav would say the same thing that Adam said. Ha, Ha..it's a scooter!

I don't think that a scooter is the most practical purchase in our climate. I'm totally with Marilee..what about rain and snow..and wind blown hair...NO FUN! Gas prices suck for everyone..is there a bus route near your house? That might be a better idea than getting a scooter??!! Good luck!

By the way..I'm tagging you again..I want to read your responses!!

Hey Kelli,
You should talk to my sister Michelle. She has one. I don't know how often she uses it. I think they work for some people. Did you come up to Bear Lake last weekend and did I miss it? Sorry.

What about your hair? Let's be practical here :-) Although I would think you are the BOMB if you end up buying one!!!!

by the time you pay for the scooter, or make montly payments on it, plus the gas for it. That is money you could use on gas money for your car.

Thank you all for you comments. I will put them in to consideration and I've probably won't get one, I think if gas prices go up to $9 then I'll get one.

I say use the money to pay off your car and then you'll have that much more for gas. You also failed to mention that your car get 27mpg. It won't make that much of a difference.

I agree with the anonymous comment. With that, I will add two additional things:
1. It's people who ride scooters that make it so I have a job(scraping them off the pavement).
2. The big joke at work is this: "How do you know that a vehicle involved in an accident is a Kia?" Answer: "There is blood on the airbag." They have one of the worst safety ratings of any vehicle. Maybe why they are so cheap?

Stick to the bus. Cheaper than gas prices or buying a scooter.

P.S. Sorry for writing such a downer comment.

My response to Shani's comment.

Shani has provided us a small view of what can happen because she sees scooter accidents on a daily basis. I don't hate every single person I talk to just because at work I get yelled at every day.

My point is, when you operate any vehicle it does not matter what it is. YOU have to drive defensively and know how to maneuver that vehicle. When I ride my motorcycle I view my surroundings and constantly think what is the WORST thing this driver could do and I EXPECT that they will do it. You have risks with everything you do in life and that includes walking across the street, which is why we are taught to "look both ways".
Plus I have saved a TON of money on gas with my motorcycle. IF I didn't buy that and drove my truck every day. yes..I would have more money for gas.....in my truck...but that does not mean I am saving money. my Truck costs $80 to fill up every 220 miles. my motorcycle is $12 every 150 miles. YOU DO THE MATH. I already did. I save A TON.

There boomer. I feel a ton better now. And now I am late for work to go get yelled at.

*Edit to my own post*

my truck is $60.00 to fill up not $80.00. guess i need my glasses on.

Boomer ask your husband if he is saving money! GOOOO ASSSSAW

The Whitney's said...

I love the ASSAW, $8.88 cents to fill that bad boy up.

I agree with Adam I have had my bike two weeks and have saved over $400.00 on fuel not to mention the miles saved on my truck. And I to spend my days (scraping people off the street) and alot of the time it is them being stupid and not paying attention that gets them there not always but most of the time.

AMEN! Gas prices are KILLING our budget and draining our bank account! Grrrrr! I would get a scooter, but it might not be good timing for me to be riding around on one!
